Juniors take part in epic Lakes Weekend
Several members of the SE junior squad made the long journey to the Lake District on 5/6 June, to take part in the British Middle Distance Championships and the Northern Championships.
Courses were physically tough and technically challenging, particularly for those just returning to fitness after a long covid-enforced break. For some members of the squad, this was one of their first experiences of orienteering in the Lakes - a baptism of fire! Congratulations to everyone who made it round, or even just returned in one piece. The results were dominated by Northern and Scottish runners.
At the British Middle Champs, well done to Adam Conway (M18) 5th, James Yule (M18) 7th, Scarlet Heap (W18) 8th, Hannah Freeman (W18) 9th
At the Northern Champs, well done to Tommy Heap (M16A) 5th, James Yule (M18E) 6th, Ellie Mills-Hicks (W16A) 7th, Scarlet Heap (W18E) 8th.
In addition, a junior sprint race was held in Keswick before the Championship races. Well done to Ben Gostick (M16) 5th, Tommy Heap (M16) 6th, Scarlet Heap (W18) 9th, Amelia Bartlet (W18) 10th.
