The South East Junior Squad is aimed at juniors in the 14-18 age groups who want to improve their orienteering, train regularly with other juniors, have fun and make new orienteering friends. We meet once a month and sometimes have weekends away for training or competitions, such as the annual Junior Inter-Regional Championships.
The recent JK in South Wales gave a great opportunity for SE juniors to demonstrate their abilities against competitors from all over the country. Four days of competition covered sprint, middle, classic and relays. Great weather and interesting courses led to a great weekend.
Several members of the junior squad have achieved Podium places (Top 6) at the recent British Middle Distance Championships and British Championships.
Congratulations to SEJS members Tommy Heap (M16), Scarlet Heap (W18) and Adam Conway (M18), who were all selected to represent England at the recent Junior Home International competition hosted by SLOW on 9/10 October.
Adam had a great result coming 3rd in the individual race. England won the individual event. In the relays, Scotland and England drew, leaving England with the overall win. Ireland took 3rd and the small Wales team finished 4th.
Congratulations to Scarlet Heap, 2nd in W18E and best performer in SEJS at this year's British Orienteering Championships.
