South East Junior Squad
The South East Junior Squad is aimed at juniors in the 14-18 age groups who want to improve their orienteering, train regularly with other juniors, have fun and make new orienteering friends. We meet once a month and sometimes have weekends away for training or competitions, such as the annual Junior Inter-Regional Championships.
As a member of SEJS you are eligible for selection to the Summer orienteering tours run by JROS (Junior Regional Orienteering Squads). These tours are a highlight of the orienteering calendar for many juniors (Lagganlia for M/W14's, Deeside for M/W16's, Stockholm for M/W18's and Gothenburg for M/W20's) and are a great way to meet junior orienteers from all over the country. More information about these tours can be found on the JROS website.
The squad also competes at the annual Junior Inter-Regional Competition (JIRCS) against 11 other regional squads from around the UK. The competition takes place in September with individual races on Day 1 and relays on Day 2, staying locally overnight.
The South East Junior Orienteering Squad exists to promote the development of junior orienteers in the SEOA region. The squad meets once a month on average, usually on a Saturday, for a full day of training at various locations across the SEOA region. Membership is by invitation from the Squad Co-ordinator, Angela Darley, and the Lead Coach, Carol Lovegrove only and remains at their discretion.
Sadly, all training sessions are on hold for the next few months. Keep in touch and we'll come up with some virtual training to keep you in shape.
The dates for the next few sessions are shown below:
